the Resurrection...of grapes
April 27 2025 | 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM24 Harrison St, New York, NY 10013
Grapes rise, and grapes fall.
Acts of the gods and man’s intervention steer the fate of many a varietal.
While some ascend to damn-near-global proclivity,
others shrink into the sub soils, never to bear fruit again.
Everything can change with one discovery.
A long-ignored corner of a parcel might host the lone survivor of a devastating blight;
a vine rising from the ashes of another’s damnation.
In “Resurrection,” we will roll the proverbial stone away
from the proverbial mouth of the cave to discover grapes
climbing back from the brink of extinction.
Their disappearance tells our story
as stewards and subjects of her Holiness, Vitis vinifera.
And their resilience illuminates our path through a future
of rising temperatures and transfigured ecosystems.
The specifics of the event:
-it will be a seated gathering, at communal tables
-6 wines will be enjoyed during the class + a welcome wine
-there will be a snack, because we want your bellies to be happy
-there will be instruction and conversation...this is a class after all...
lasting roughly 60 minutes...and Abbey will be leading this class
-there will not be a test at the finish of the class
We very much look forward to celebrating
the the resurrection of wine grapes with you.
